The discussion will start with a brief introduction on the grid resiliency considerations as the industry pivots toward the decarbonized resources. This transformation demands ever greater reliability and resiliency of the electric grid as the impacts of the climate changes become more pronounced in recent years. The frequent extreme weather conditions also created an environment where certain parts of the world are presented with the abundance of dry vegetations near power lines. This coupled with the seasonal windy climate conditions bring about elevated risk of ignitions associated with the power lines.
This has resulted in a game-changing approach in the way the power grid is designed, operated, and maintained. Key experiences and lessons learned from the development of comprehensive wildfire risk mitigation strategy and its operational implementation will be shared with the audience.
